Managing Your Viking Air Reservation

Viking Air can simplify travel planning by combining cruise and flight arrangements into a single reservation.

For many guests, that's a major advantage.

However, understanding how Viking Air works can help you avoid surprises and make better decisions.

What Viking Air Handles

Viking Air will arrange:

  • International flights with Economy, Premium Economy or Business Class seats
  • Domestic connections
  • Airport Transfers
  • Cruise-related travel coordination

You can indicate your flight preferences, including seat locations, loyalty numbers, and Known Traveler Numbers, on your My Viking Journey account by clicking "Flight Preferences".

Finding Your Airline Confirmation Number

"I can see my Viking reservation, but where is my airline reservation?"

An initial itinerary will be provided for guest review approximately 120-150 days before departure. Once ticketed, you will receive an airline ticket confirmation with airline booking numbers that allows you to:

  • Move or select seats
  • Monitor schedules
  • Manage preferences and passenger details such as airline loyalty numbers and Known Traveler Numbers

Schedule Changes

Airlines regularly adjust schedules. This is normal and typically beyond the cruise line's control.  When changes occur:

  • Review flight times carefully
  • Check connection lengths
  • Confirm arrival timing

Seat Assignments

Seat assignment policies vary by airline.  You will be assigned a seat in the category you purchased.  You will receive assigned seats on most major US carriers (Delta, American, United, etc).  These can typically be updated directly on an airline's website by finding your reservation using the airline's 6-digit booking number.

On international carriers, seats may not be assigned until 24 hours before departure.  You will receive seats in the category booked and will be seated together with other guests on the same reservation.

Should You Consider Air Plus?

Air Plus is an air booking "upgrade" which costs $150/person. Air Plus may provide greater flexibility if you want:

  • Specific airlines
  • Preferred routing
  • Early flight confirmations

Viking Insider Tips

  • Viking Air can be added to your reservation at anytime up until about 120 days before departure, which is helpful if you are trying to manage your travel budget.
  • Review your air itinerary carefully once you receive it and verify passport names are listed and travel dates are correct. Revisit your itinerary on the airline's website periodically before departure.
